November is quickly become Verizon’s month of smartphones thanks to the Motorola Droid, HTC Droid Eris, and now the BlackBerry Curve 8530. The Big Red announced that the latest BlackBerry smartphone will become available on November 20th for $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year agreement. The BlackBerry Curve 8530 is nothing more than the CDMA version of T-Mobile’s BB Curve 8520. T-Mobile and Verizon are not the only mobile operators to carry the smartphone, as Sprint has announced that the 8530 is coming soon for an unknown price.
Why are we calling November Verizon’s month if Sprint and T-Mobile are announcing almost the same thing? Well, I don’t know how the Big Red is doing, but they’re doing it better. It seems like we’ve been brainwashed or something because we are beginning to fall in love with Verizon. Meanwhile, the BlackBerry Curve 8530 features a QWERTY keyboard, an optical trackpad, 2-megapixel camera, aGPS, 3.5 headset jack, 256MB memory for apps, 528MHz Qualcomm processor, EV-DO REV A, and WiFi among many others.
You can read Sprint’s press release here, and Verizon’s right here. I guess this is just a matter of carrier choice…
